The African American Community Association of Jefferson County is passionate about protecting Jefferson County’s history, culture, and architectural heritage.

Who we are

The mission of the AACAJC is to promote cultural preservation, quality leadership, and academic excellence through a unique approach to cultural advocacy, academic support, and community outreach. We are committed to stewardship of built structures and historical sites. We are the primary advocate of the value of the city's African American cultural heritage.

What we do

Maintain and Preserve Fishermen Hall

For 25 years, we have been a strong pillar of support and an esteemed resource supporting the African American community.

Advocating Heritage Conservation

We advocate for the preservation of Jefferson County’s cultural heritage by working with local community groups and city officials to provide or support cultural programming.

Community Development

We support after school educational support for students, parents and teachers.

We support health and wellness programming.

We support equitable broadband access and digital skills learning programming.
